Photo Friday – Familiar Faces

The theme for Photo Friday was familiar faces – and this is the face I’m most familiar with. Here he is in his mohawk hoodie.  I feel that he is very divided in how he feels about it, he feels shamed in a mohawk hoodie, as anyone would be – but it’s pretty thick and keeps him warm on our walks. What’s a dog to do?

Supermassive Black Hole

Hey!  Remember when I started THE BIG MYSTERY PROJECT, and I showed you all those pretty colors, and I promised to  keep you updated on the progress? Well, there has been some!  Here is where I am at!

Yes, Cats and Kittens, I have made a black rectangle and there is more to come, that black retangle is only going to be getting bigger.  I have to tell you, I am on one cross stitching adventure with this one.

As you can imagine. the black retangle can be boring, even though the overall project isn’t, and as with any project, i always have something smaller to work when I can’t look at the black rectangle for one moment longer.  And here is that…

Oh, look! cross stitch meets S&M!  The two go together more than you think.

Also, how do you like that bowl?  Two buck thrift store find. My Mom thinks I spent two bucks too much, but I likes it!

Oh yeah, and I’m writing!

The Case of the Crunchy Crouton

I like being single.  I like not having to justify the extensive Lifetime movie collection that is on my DVR.  By the way, tonight’s feature Mother, May I Sleep With Danger , and my mother  would have said NO!  I can pink the place up, although I haven’t.  I’m the one that I’m answering too and that feels good.

Having said that, there are downsides to being single. one of them is the bread thing. As in a good portion of my bread goes stale before I can finish it.  I like my bread soft and squishy, so  it’s a problem. So what’s a gal to do with her stale bread?  Well, if she has a big to her kitchen, she learns to make croutons!

Watch me!

See? Look at that stale bread!

I cut them up in croutony bits.

..then I put them in the mixing bowl, one of a set I got at an estate sale. it’s a pretty awesome bowl, no?

See? I am even mixing ingredients ! That is  1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt  and 1 teaspoon of parsley flakes.

But wait, there is more…

add 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Give everything a good stir till the garlic salt dissolves.

Mix it all together.

Now while I was doing all that other stuff  I had my oven preheating to 300 degrees. As you can see you just have to through your little crouties on a baking sheet and pop them in the oven for 15 minutes.

Hey, I have an idea while we wait, how about we check what is going on in the rest of the house.

Oh look, it’s Snoozy McSnore.

Back to the kitchen…

Hey, this actually worked!

Seriously, look at how good they look!  They taste even better! I have to confess that tonight’s salad tasted  yummo!

Who knows, tomorrow I might try making jello!  Don’t laugh, I’ve totally botched that one in the past.

me at the V

So as one might imagine, there isn’t a lot of night life in Lakeview Arkansas, population 743 – wait 744 since I’ve moved here.  That’s okay, that means I just cross the dam and spend my nights in Bull Shoals, population 1,940.  Because Bull Shoals is where it’s at – and by “it’s” I mean the grocery store, the boat docks, the library, and the volunteer fire department.

Anyway, last Friday I ventured out for my first social outing that did not involve my Mom ( it’s okay to laugh…)

Trivia night at the VFW.

There was a $5 cover charge that went to charity one of their members actively supports, every month the charity changes, also there is a 50/50 raffle, which I did not win – but Jan who was on my team did — A ROUND OF DRINKS !!!

Yes, I was the youngest person there. Yes, there were a lot of military questions, which believe it or not surprised me.  I KNOW!  Marika, you were at the V.F.W. !!!!  And there was one category  that I  called into question … CLASSIC MOVIES FROM THE SIXTIES  … Were there really any classic movies made in the 60’s?  Luckily for me,  the gang at the V consider Elvis movies to be classics  – and so do I!

I had a really good time, and my team was pretty good, in fact we were tied for first place — the last chapter was American History, and thanks to my absolutely unnatural  knowledge of the Jackson Administration, we got this …

Yeah, we’ll be back on the twenty-third, and by the way, I’m brushing up on my James Buchanan.
