French Rococo! Marie de Pompadour painted by Francois Boucher. Pompadour was First Mistress to king Louis XIII in the 18th century. Pompadour became powerful in the court and she was Boucher’s patron. Boucher became the greatest painter of his day thanks to her commissions.
I meant King Louis XV!!!! his grandson was Louis XVI who married Marie Antoinette.
and I bet she was DRAMATIC!
yes was smarter than most of the men around her. She was not of noble birth but Louis gave her a title, Marquise of Pompadour. One of my professors did a lot of research about this painting.
That green ornament? I have one almost identical to it for my Christmas tree.
Is all this in the LBITW or from a shop?
If you look really close you can see the price tag – $499 — nothing that expensive in the LBITBW … however, if you wanted to get it for us, we’d hang it up!
It’s nice to have a dream…
