Day 04/365

St. Petersburg, a city of readers.

I like the new super cheap used bookstore in the mall.  The books are cheaper then other places, but they don’t have that romantic feeling as one of my favorite bookstores.

Haslam’s established in 1933,  is Florida’s largest new and used bookstore and it’s really amazing.  It’s still run by the same family, and getting lost inside is something I think everyone who comes to St Pete should experience.  There is a great section on Florida writers, they sell cards and journals too – and the kid section is amazing.

And of course there’s the ghost … because of course it’s haunted.  Jack Kerouac, who died in St Pete in 1969, is supposed to be in residence and loves to hurl his books across the room.
